Case study from November 2020

VR BANK Dinklage-Steinfeld eG was founded more than 130 years ago. To this day, community, co-determination through membership and regionality characterize the mission statement. Since 2002, the Dinklage and Steinfeld branches have been part of VR BANK Dinklage-Steinfeld eG. The cooperative bank with the two branches has almost 5,880 members and 76 employees. The bank stands for innovation, reliability, fairness and open and honest communication with customers and partners.

In addition to its internal rating, VR BANK Dinklage-Steinfeld eG wanted to incorporate external information into the creditworthiness assessment of its customers and, in particular, place the classification of corporate customers on a broader basis. The aim was to obtain private and business customer information from a standardized interface and to be able to build on a reliable, fast and efficient assessment of the economic strength of new corporate customers when initiating business.

After B2B creditworthiness information had previously been manually entered into the core banking system in-house, it was now necessary to make digital information available in agree21 via a standardized interface without media discontinuity. In October 2019, VR BANK Dinklage-Steinfeld eG implemented the SCHUFA B2B interface in agree21 - a key step towards effective risk management.

By initially filling legal entities with full information, a credit report with comprehensive information was available for all existing customers right from the start. Until now, fully automated initial filling could only be carried out for natural persons.

SCHUFA also activated automatic monitoring at VR BANK Dinklage-Steinfeld eG in order to improve the up-to-dateness of customer and company data. This means that the bank now receives subsequent reports on changes relevant to creditworthiness or the company, for example. The subsequent notifications are indicated by a new full report.

With SCHUFA, the bank opted for a digital solution from a provider with which it already had an electronic connection from its private customer business. The decision to also obtain credit reports from a single source in future was therefore an obvious one.

Another decisive argument: SCHUFA is the only credit agency with a direct B2B interface to agree21.

With data on around six million companies and 67.9 million natural persons, it has Germany's largest data pool with credit-relevant information. By combining the information from the company database with the creditworthiness information on company management from the SCHUFA personal database, credit reports with special significance are created, as liquidity information on the owners and authorized representatives of the companies is included in the assessment.

The implementation of a standardized interface for digital private and corporate customer information in agree21 has significantly reduced manual effort. Employees now always have access to up-to-date and comprehensive data and can rely on a valid initial assessment, especially in new customer business. The greater selectivity enables a much more precise risk assessment in a clear process that leaves more time for the core business. VR BANK Dinklage-Steinfeld eG can now assess risks even better, especially in business with small traders and freelancers.
