Business life is increasingly taking place online: The shift of processes to the digital world offers many advantages - whether for shopping, transactions or services. However, the pleasing increase in sales figures is clouded by a problem that needs to be addressed: fraud is on the rise, especially in online business, and methods are constantly evolving - the loss of sales in online business is estimated at an average of two percent, which is in the billions.

About the study

The study "Fraud Prevention in E-Commerce" by IFH COLOGNE in cooperation with SCHUFA Holding AG is based on 25 interviews with experts from the top 100 companies in e-commerce as well as an additional digital roundtable, which was held on October 29, 2020. Furthermore, an internet-representative survey of 1,000 consumers was conducted regarding their experiences of fraud. The ECC Payment Studies Vol. 22-24 of the IFH subsidiary ECC KÖLN were also consulted.
