New State Treaty on Gambling regulates online gambling nationwide. SCHUFA solution supports player protection measures.

Wiesbaden, 01 July 2021 - With the SCHUFA gambling information service, providers of gambling, online casinos and sports betting can now comply with all regulatory requirements of the new State Treaty on Gambling (GlüStV), in particular with regard to player protection, and apply for a nationwide license.

From July 2021, the GlüStV will allow online casinos, virtual slot machines and sports betting to be offered online across the entire German market. As a prerequisite, the GlüStV sets high regulatory requirements with regard to identity verification, protection against gambling addiction, over-indebtedness and money laundering prevention. With the SCHUFA gambling information service, SCHUFA now offers a solution that enables providers to meet the regulatory requirements of the GlüStV in a legally compliant manner and to apply for a nationwide license.

Providers receive a social concept that meets requirements

Legally compliant and taking player protection and data protection into account: Important verification steps of the social concept required by law, such as a check of financial reliability as well as age information, are greatly simplified by comparison with the SCHUFA database. In addition to other solutions, gambling information can be used whenever players want to increase their stake above 1,000 euros and up to 9,999 euros.

SCHUFA supports gambling operators in the essential verification steps required for licensing. Gambling operators have the opportunity to prove their financial standing using various methods. These include account verification or a document template via upload. If a user opts for verification via account insight, the process is carried out by SCHUFA subsidiary finAPI GmbH in compliance with data protection regulations using the XS2A procedure. From a stake of 10,000 euros, verification via XS2A or a document template is mandatory.

Cooperation with ID service provider insic enables state-of-the-art data protection and legally compliant solutions

SCHUFA is cooperating with insic GmbH, a leading ID service provider in Germany, to provide a modular solution that enables gambling and sports betting providers to offer individually configurable processes. Together, the two companies offer technically modern, secure and flexibly configurable solutions that cover all relevant use cases.

The SCHUFA gambling information has no influence on any further credit assessment. It only stores the information that a gambling provider has requested information from SCHUFA and, if applicable, which score value was transmitted. This serves the purpose of transparency towards users. SCHUFA gambling information has been assessed as suitable by the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information and the Federal Gambling Supervisory Authority in Darmstadt.
