As an experienced rider, Sandra will be supporting her discipline in Berlin. She is looking forward to meeting athletes, other volunteers and visitors. Ultimately, the volunteers themselves also benefit from their work: they get to meet people from different countries and very different areas of work and life, can establish interesting networks and acquire know-how from completely new areas. Many of them find the assignment meaningful. Felix has also experienced this in his role as a coach: "I've always received a lot in return from my ID judokas," he says.
Helping the athletes, cheering them on and celebrating together - anyone who has had little contact with people with disabilities may feel a certain amount of uncertainty. Sandra wants to ease other volunteers' fears: "Be open and actively approach people," she advises. Christine is also looking forward to interacting with the athletes. Together with Felix, she will be working in the media team in Berlin - an area of responsibility that is new to both of them. Felix is excited: "I'll provide support where I'm needed and just let myself be surprised."
