SCHUFA has developed a new score based on twelve criteria. One of these is the number of non-banking inquiries in the last twelve months. You can find out how this criterion will affect your creditworthiness in future here!

  • Subject of the criterion: Number of inquiries outside the banking sector in the past twelve months
  • Points in the score: 0 to 99 points
  • Awarding the minimum number of points: From four requests
  • Allocation of maximum points: None or one request

These include inquiries from the (online) retail, telecommunications and (financial) services sectors. If people make purchases on account or pay in installments, it is possible that companies such as online mail order companies, cell phone providers or insurance companies will inquire about their creditworthiness with SCHUFA. Whether an inquiry has been made depends on various factors, e.g. whether people are new customers or order unusually often. The amount can also have an influence on whether an inquiry is made with SCHUFA. Each company decides for itself whether a credit check is carried out and whether the transaction is concluded.

These credit inquiries are included in the scoring. If several credit inquiries are made about a person at SCHUFA, payment defaults are statistically more frequent. This worsens the score.

Important to know: Multiple requests within 28 days are only counted once.

Calculation Criterion Number of inquiries outside the banking sector in the past twelve months

There are four possible values for the criterion of the number of non-banking inquiries in the last twelve months. Anyone who has fewer than four non-banking inquiries receives points for the score: 99 points for no or one inquiry, 71 points for two and 40 points for three inquiries and in the past twelve months. If four or more inquiries are reported, consumers receive zero points.
