The case

Ms. A. planned to rent company cell phones for her company. She had asked an online provider for the conditions. When registering on the portal, she indicated that she was inquiring as a corporate customer. When she checked her own personal data in the SCHUFA customer portal some time later, she found the request from the online provider, which had asked about her creditworthiness as a private individual. An attempt to clarify the matter with both the company and SCHUFA failed. Ms. A. therefore turned to the SCHUFA ombudsperson with her request and asked for the query to be deleted from her SCHUFA database.

The decision

The ombudsperson contacted the contractual partner who had submitted the request to SCHUFA. This revealed that the request had actually been made for Ms. A's private person. However, Ms. A. was able to prove by submitting correspondence with the online provider that she did not want to rent the cell phones for herself, but for her company. The ombudsperson then informed Ms. A. that she had arranged for the request to be deleted.
