SCHUFA's digital strategy relies on the cloud as a powerful IT infrastructure - for the benefit of consumers and companies.
The digital transformation of the economy and society continues apace. Even in an increasingly digital and service-oriented economy, SCHUFA wants to facilitate fast and secure business transactions - with high-quality information and innovative services. To achieve this, it relies on a high-performance IT infrastructure: the cloud.
The use of the cloud enables us to support our corporate customers even better in the digitalization of their processes. We also want to meet the needs of consumers, for example with the new SCHUFA service portal. There, consumers can get quick and structured help with questions and concerns about SCHUFA. Cloud infrastructure is an important tool for us to accelerate the digital transformation.
SCHUFA is already using the cloud for new applications and plans to gradually migrate existing products and services to the cloud. This will allow us to gather experience and ensure a smooth transition.Compliance with legal requirements and the highest security standards is our top priority.
Behind the cloud is a service provider (cloud service provider) that provides scalable computing resources. These include cloud-based computing, storage, platform and application services. As a company, we can access these via the internet as and when we need them. Instead of operating our own servers, the cloud enables flexible access to the cloud provider's data centers.
- Security
The cloud infrastructure offers us the highest security standards. Our cloud partner is certified according to international standards. In addition, the data backed up in the cloud is encrypted both during transmission and at rest. Access to this data is regulated by strict access restrictions. Therefore, only persons authorized by SCHUFA can access the data.
- ScalabilityProviders
of public clouds offer almost unlimited resources that can be scaled up or down as required. With the cloud, we can book additional capacity in the event of a short-term increase in queries and flexibly reduce the booked computing power in quieter periods. This allows us to increase capacity during Black Friday week, for example, and reduce it during the summer months.
- SpeedIn
the cloud, development environments, server capacities and databases can be set up in the shortest possible time. This gives us more time for development and can significantly accelerate product launches.Cloud providers also take on many tasks for the maintenance, repair and protection of hardware and software
- SustainabilityBy
flexibly expanding and reducing our capacities, we only use the computing power that we really need. This enables us to save a significant proportion of the energy consumption of our IT infrastructure and thus make our contribution to the energy transition.
After careful consideration, SCHUFA has selected the global market leader Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its cloud provider. AWS is known for its comprehensive security and compliance services that meet the highest industry standards. AWS services are regularly certified and audited according to international security standards. We use the AWS cloud in Germany. As a result, SCHUFA data remains within the EU and all EU GDPR requirements are guaranteed.
