As a partner of Special Olympics Germany (SOD), SCHUFA has been working since 2022 to help people with intellectual disabilities gain greater recognition and participate more fully in society.

One focus of the partnership is on the topic of “participation in economic life.” For example, SCHUFA makes its knowledge, network, and experts available for financial literacy projects aimed at people with disabilities, their families, as well as associations and institutions, in order to promote inclusion.

“SCHUFA shares the vision of Special Olympics Germany: that an inclusive society can exist—driven by the power of sport—in which people with intellectual disabilities have equal access to sports, education, culture, and economic life,” says Tanja Birkholz. “We are convinced that, together with the Special Olympics family, we can exchange valuable ideas to achieve this goal.”

We support the by sponsoring inclusive sporting events, thereby promoting the social inclusion of people with disabilities. Our employees are also actively involved in corporate volunteering.

Financial Inclusion
We want to make it easier to access financial services and enable greater financial independence. The , provides data-driven insights into financial inclusion and helps highlight areas where action is needed.

Inclusive Financial Education
With , including in plain language, we provide information on financial topics for a variety of target audiences. We provide teachers with a range of teaching materials tailored to the needs of inclusive learning environments.

Accessible Products and Services
We aim to make our services technically accessible, thereby enabling users to use them easily and independently. In addition, we use plain language to make information more understandable and accessible.

Inclusion in the Workplace
We want to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities and advocate for their equal participation in the workforce. We firmly believe that inclusion has a positive impact on corporate culture.

In June 2026, nearly 50 SCHUFA employees were on site in Saarland to support the Special Olympics and promote inclusion.

In addition to the employees who served as corporate volunteers in the handball competition in Saarlouis, other employees also volunteered at the SCHUFA booth in Saarbrücken.

SCHUFA supports the Special Olympics because it is committed to the inclusion and participation of people with intellectual disabilities.

SCHUFA employees were therefore also present at the 2025 State Games: as volunteers at the competitions, as coaches, and as athletes. SCHUFA had its own booth to showcase itself to visitors and athletes in Mainz, Hanover, and Hanau. At the so-called non-competitive activities, participants could test their skills at duck fishing, a sensory box, target throwing, and Jenga. As a reward, they received prizes specially made for the Special Olympics.
